Congregate Nutrition Centers
The goal of our congregate nutrition centers program is to provide nutritious meals in a communal setting to participants 60 years of age and older and their spouses regardless of age. We encourage clients to come out and enjoy a setting where they may socialize with others in the community and enjoy a well-balanced meal. Our sites are located throughout Essex County. Your loved one will enjoy a pleasant afternoon out at our friendly congregate nutrition centers’ site is exclusively for seniors. We serve great food and offer plenty of activities to choose from. Participants can meet new friends, chat, watch movies, play games, discuss the events of the day, or just relax and take it all in. We have special events, parties, outings, all planned with your special interests in mind.
Supper Club is back!
The Congregate Nutrition Program’s priority is to improve senior heath with nutritious hot meals, companionship, and information to connect our seniors to additional resources. Many Seniors are transported by our courtesy van service or the county transportation system to the nine sites in the county for nutritious hot meals every weekday.
And then there is Supper Club. We learned that there are so many widowers and widows who do not eat at night, and so many seniors who cannot afford to buy nutritious food for an evening meal. They are living alone and in front of a TV set at night. The idea of going out to eat their supper was thrilling. The Supper Club program is the traditional Early Bird evening meal that takes place from 4:30 to 6:30 in the evening. We arrange for Supper Club entertainment with a singer who performs music such as Frank Sinatra hits, The Four Seasons, The 4 Tops, Line Dance music, and more. There are requests from the audience resulting in a complete mixture of 50s, 60s, and 70s hits. There are singles, couples, and friends who travel together to the site. There is conversation, singing, and laughing throughout the room. There is mingling between seniors from different congregate sites. Everyone absolutely loves the experience. The Congregate Nutrition Program has improved overall health with physical activity, good nutrition, and mental health through socialization. Loneliness, depression, isolation, and anxiety disappear for our seniors. They make new relationships and experience a sense of family every day.

Our certified home health aide services are ideal for the person who needs a bit of extra assistance to remain safely in the home environment. Certified by the New Jersey State Board of Nursing, our home health aides are the extra set of hands needed to assist with all activities of daily living, including:
- Personal Care
- Physical Activity/Prescribed Exercises
- Meal Preparation
- Light Housekeeping
- Accompaniment Outside of the Home
All certified home health aide services are provided in accordance with a patient-centered plan of care developed by the RN Case Manager in conjunction with the patient’s family, personal physician, and certified home health aide. Services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week and can be provided in the home, hospital, skilled nursing facility, or assisted living residence.
Companion and Home Friend Service
This service is designed for those who do not need hands-on personal care but who will benefit from a companion who can supervise the client’s activities of daily living, encourage independence in self-care, shop for food and household supplies, and more. Our companions will plan, prepare, and serve meals in accordance with client’s plan of care.
If the client needs accompaniment during errands, MD visits, hair appointments, etc., our companions are here to help. We’ll assist with light household tasks and laundry, and we’ll stay alert for changes in the client’s physical and emotional well-being. All of our companions are trained in agency policies and procedures and are supervised by a registered nurse who visits at least once every 60 days.
Our respite program is designed for both the family and the patient. This program is integral to the emotional well-being of the primary caregiver in the family, because it affords the caregiver an opportunity to pursue personal activities on a day-to-day basis, or over an extended period, such as a vacation. The caregiver gets a much-needed break and peace of mind knowing that his or her loved one is in good hands. The respite caregiver is a certified home health aide who follows an individualized care plan and is supervised by a registered nurse.
Weekday hot meal delivery is provided to clients who are mostly homebound due to illness, physical limitation, advanced age, or inadequate cooking facilities.
